Meet Our Team
Mr. Scott is the founder of Craft Law Group. After completing his joint Law and Business degrees, he articled with a large Calgary-based firm, joining as an Associate following Articles. Mr. Scott left for “in-house” work with one of his clients which was one of Western Canada’s largest waste management companies.
After a stint with the Alberta Stock Exchange (now the TSX Venture Exchange), Mr. Scott joined another large, national law firm before being hired by one of his clients, FutureLink Corp. as their VP Legal and General Counsel. FutureLink was arguably the earliest developer and promoter of what is now known as “cloud computing”, and Mr. Scott assisted in their rapid growth from single office Canadian-based company to an international entity with 28 offices in three countries and a NASDAQ listing.
When the tech boom ended, Mr. Scott returned to Calgary to again practice business law, eventually becoming a partner with a boutique firm. One of Canada’s largest upstream oil companies recruited Mr. Scott to head the legal department of their Oil Sands division, which led to Mr. Scott living and working in Fort McMurray for over 7 years before returning to Calgary. After leaving what had become Canada’s largest integrated oil and gas company, Mr. Scott continues to focus on business law, typically in the oil and gas sector or with information technology clients, but his broad background allows him to assist many other clients.
